Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and its subsidiary Firefly will offer additional flights during the Aidiladha travel period, from June 23 to July 6, 2023.
MAS will add 37 extra flights, while Firefly will operate an additional six flights. The extra flights will be on popular routes, including Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Kota Bharu, and Penang.
MAS is also upgrading 12 of its services to the Airbus 330 for the Kota Kinabalu and Kuching routes. The Airbus 330 is a larger aircraft that can accommodate more passengers, making it ideal for the peak travel period.
“We encourage travellers to take advantage of these great deals and book their travels ahead of time, so they can travel with peace of mind onboard Malaysian Hospitality,” said MAG chief executive officer Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi.
Customers can book their flights online or through MAS’s call centre. MAS is also offering a variety of discounts on fares, seat selection, checked baggage, sports equipment, and travel insurance.
The discounts are available until June 19, 2023, for immediate travel up to November 30, 2023. Firefly is also offering discounts on fares for its members and non-members. The discounts are available until June 18, 2023, for immediate travel up to December 31, 2023.
“We are pleased to offer these discounts to our customers, especially during this festive season,” said Firefly chief executive officer Ignatius Ong. “We hope that these discounts will encourage more people to travel and celebrate with their loved ones.”
Aidiladha is the most important religious festival for Muslims. It is a time for Muslims to celebrate the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as an act of obedience to God. The festival is also a time for Muslims to gather with their families and friends to commemorate the occasion.
The additional flights and discounts offered by MAS and Firefly are expected to ease the travel burden for Malaysians who are planning to travel during the Aidiladha period.
